The “Meaning” of Life

Strangely enough, there is no meaning to life. If you are living a spiritual life where you are content to just “be”, or rest in silence, then meaning does not come into the picture. Meaning comes from the other side of life, the side with beliefs and the ego.  When you are connected to the moment, everything is as it is and does not require any meaning added to it. “Meaning” is an attempt to enhance life by assigning characteristics to ordinary experience in order to elevate it beyond the ordinary.

Experience is immediate and cannot be saved by any trick of thought. Even a beautiful arrangement of flowers is a dead thing and will deteriorate in a short amount of time. The trick is to be content with immediate experience and not to try to find special meaning. When you let go of meaning then life becomes effortless and joyous.
